Quaquaverse poems by Sachs

"Fancy Dress"

I dreamt of a fancy dress party
I’d thrown but then wanted to end.
I’d gone as myself, only older;
Nobody came as my friends.

"West Leeds Junction"

He swam in God-consciousness;
I tread water.

The smokescreen democracy;

The Aireside stacks –
Their Perspex oblongs
Blazing open-plan disuse;

The phosphorous burns;

The Catholic in my parting;

Arrest my strokes.
